Estimates, not bills

Everything on this site is an estimate for general guidance. Figures use typical appliance wattages and state average electricity rates, neither of which describes any specific household. Your actual costs depend on your equipment, your usage, your utility’s tariff structure, fixed charges and local taxes.

Do not use these figures as the sole basis for a purchasing decision, an efficiency investment, a dispute with a utility, or any other consequential choice. Verify against your own bill and your appliance’s nameplate rating.

No warranty

This site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. While we work to keep data accurate and cite our sources, we do not guarantee that any figure is correct, current or complete, and we accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on it.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is engineering, electrical, financial or legal advice. For electrical work consult a licensed electrician. For billing matters consult your utility.

No government affiliation

We use public data from the US Energy Information Administration. We are an independent website and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the EIA, the Department of Energy, or any government agency.

Acceptable use

You may use this site freely for personal and commercial reference. Please do not scrape it at a rate that degrades service for others, or republish substantial portions of the site wholesale. If you want the underlying rate data, get it from the EIA directly — it is public.
